DUTY IN THE HOSPITAL!

I wake up in the morning, about earlier than 5 am.
I arrive in school, in my white uniform, complete with paraphernalia.
Few talking, and we go to the hospital.
We arrive there, maintaining our composure.
I am assigned with one patient by our CI. A pedia patient. And the watchers - they are accommodating.
I regulate the IVF to 45 cc/ hr.
I take the vital signs.
I transcribe.
Few talking, and sweeping, and many other things.
Then we go.
Then I'm here in the net cafe.
Writing this one.
FINAL...

10 Fun Things to Add Up in Your Mind

Learning is always fun, maybe not at all times. So as to take away the boredom and make learning a way for having fun, here are ten facts that are worth knowing.

1. What makes ostrich outstanding is not just the fact that it is the largest living bird, but also the truth that it lays the biggest eggs.

2. If you’re planning to give your date the biggest flower in the whole world, think twice. It is because rafflesia as the largest flower is not as lovely as you thought. It looks and smells just like a huge lump of rotting flesh that might just turn her off.

3. It’s fun to know that talipot palm that grows in some Asian countries flowers only once in its lifetime, then dies a year later. Before it dies it produces a mass of flowers up to 13 m across, followed by 50 million fruits, each about 25 mm long.

4. Here comes the final exam. And everyone just thought of having a photographic memory – the ability to remember a scene or picture just as if looking at the photograph. It may not give us hard time to memorize but studying is still of importance.

5. Mercury must be the nearest planet in the sun, but it’s Venus which is the hottest.

6. Research shows, we are most likely to be killed by a champagne cork than a spider.

7. Oh! Do you know that a pregnant goldfish is called TWIT.

8. And men confessed. The result: 1 out of 2 men think it’s possible to love more than one woman at a time.

9. Big and small: The biggest tree is the Californian giant redwood, while the smallest is the Dwarf willow.

10. If you think all foods spoil, well honey does not.

Global Warming - A Threat

So we already heard about it – the term global warming. And by hearing it, we then associate it with greenhouse effect. But do you know that greenhouse effect is actually a boon? Well for those who really have scrutinized the term (greenhouse effect) firmly, they might have understood what I mean. But for those who have not, maybe I need a small talk.

Actually greenhouse effect is a natural phenomenon that’s happening in our atmosphere. Its primary role is to keep earth warm enough in sustaining life. The greenhouse effect is the result of the interaction between sunlight and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. About 20 percent of the heat is absorbed by the aforementioned gases, while 30 percent’s reflected back into space. The remaining 50 percent is absorbed by earth. As these greenhouse gases absorb the energy they become warmer, and soon emit heat waves in all directions. It’s like they allow radiant energy to enter earth, while trapping few of them. Therefore, without these greenhouse gases earth would be much colder.

But as man progresses (so does technology) the focus about nature declines. Not because these two things repel from each other. It’s just that, not all of us know how to make both, complementary. So here’s the problem: decreasing number of plants and increasing number of machines (not all machines are environment friendly). These machines increase the amount of greenhouse gases, while the reducing number of trees makes the conversion of some of these like carbon dioxide into oxygen, to be more unlikely to happen. And if you think this increase of greenhouse gases, doubles our protection from catastrophe that nature might cause, then we are thinking the wrong way. More greenhouse gases than normal level, means the higher the mercury would rise in our thermometer.

According to some scientists, earth’s temperature by 2050 might increase by 0.5`C- 2`C. With that great change in our temperature, ice caps at the north and south poles would melt, thus flooding the coastal areas and low lying lands. Approximately water level would increase by that time, for about six meters.

Surely, there’ll be changes in our biodiversity. Remember that living organisms are open system. We are affected by the changes in our environment. The growing number of diseases is one proof, that we will be sorry if we will not make a move.

Good thing! Nowadays there are more and more people getting aware on what is happening in our home right now. Environmentalist groups also grow in number, just to conserve the planet where we are into. One of those who promote self-awareness in terms of global warming is Al Gore, the author of the book – “An Inconvenient Truth”. He says “In the long run earth is going to be fine. It’s humans who are at risk.” Threatening, yes it is, but actually it’s an eye-opener.

The Filipinos also share their concern as they joined the world wide event called the EARTH HOUR. In the Philippines, there had been a nationwide blackout that had been participated by some places in Manila and 30 more cities outside it, last March 29 of 2008, about 8:00 – 9:00 o’ clock in the evening (Philippine date and time). Aside from the conserving of energy (even just for an hour), the event also intends to promote self-awareness about the earth’s status, so proper actions might be taken by concerned citizens.

Even just for our simple acts like planting, not burning garbage, conserving energy, etcetera, we can actually be a great help in this program – saving Earth. I know with the sincere heart to save our home, our life, God will help us succeed.

Message

I am who touches your thought
With what your mentors have taught
I speak what mind is meant for
To open ideas of locked door
Learn and I shall teach you
Be stupid and I shall be too

I travel from place to place
And wear everyone’s face
I may not take a space
But I am worth a praise
Hear and I shall be everywhere
Be deaf and I shall not exist

I can be as blissful as my master
Or as lonely as a widower
I can be as sweet as a child
Or as terrible as in the wild
Feel and I shall touch
Be numb and I shall vanish

I have prowess to renew
I am society of what’s due
With the people’s distinctive run
I am here to make them one
Speak and I shall unite
Be mute and I shall divide

You are made from a word
With the dust in the world
As the breath of life blown real
Then men created through His will
Live and I shall live
Die and I shall grieve

Musical Poison

The hymn convinced the world within,
The lyrics told, how lost will reign

Beneath the sighs and words shade
The tongue suddenly turned blade

As those fingers strum guitar for sounds
It takes the soul into deeper ground,

In the lightning speed of deceit
Everybody found their own deep pit

And the rise of evil shall come in life
The anti-Christ, in world shall drive

Achieved independence chained by knife
In flesh, in earth, they’ll thrive

Beautiful creations shall protest to be high
The foolishness learned, kept ‘til they died

Atheists and scourges in mud are diamonds
Praising unconsciously, the king of demons

And the time came, for judgment
The lost, all cried, asked for mercy

Why before, we lacked discernment
You my God is real, but not foreseen

And they were all gathered in the lake of fire
Of thirst, pain, suffering, penitence, lost desires

And God said, I already warned you, now and then
But you still chose the worldly gain

The Convergence

Aside from being different from each other, we anyhow affect things and people around us, physically and beyond it. But one thing’s for sure, whether to people we’ve been good or bad, we will always count as someone or something precious or the other thing.

Here are some fictional characters that are in some ways or in all ways similar to the people I’ve interacted to. Some might be in context a villain, while some are be heroes.

Belinda Snake

Her daughter just got a miscarriage and so she has to stop working, yet by her boss’s insistence, she was still paid. She’s a secretary to be considered but in good faith she was treated by her boss and its family more than that. Every time she has a problem, she always shows a very dramatic face, as if she’s in a television series. The acting must be blatant, but as to avoid misunderstandings, her requests whether about money or a one day leave has always been granted. Until time came that the news about the miscarriage created chaos. She was given a seven-day leave, yet seven days turned out to be more than it – negligence to her job! She never came again, and all her debts were left hanging. Her boss and its family did not run after her, for they know that she’s really in trouble.

One day, in her boss’s office, a complaint came from the labor, with the complainant as Belinda Snake. Belinda’s asking for P22, 000 as she estimated it. Both Belinda’s boss and the mediator were shocked upon hearing her claim, for she might have been asking for too much.

Power: She adapted the capacity to change skin like snakes. She developed strange fangs where the poisonous venoms are secreted.

Mennen Blade

As she heard about the rumor, maybe really that malicious, she went to where her prey was, carrying a barrio blade. Then with no hesitation, she hit her quarry in the head. The woman’s bleeding, while the aggressor escaped foreseeing the possible consequence of what she has done.

The woman survived, yet still in a critical condition. The police issued the warrant of arrest, and imprisoned the assailant. All of a sudden a news came stating that the aggressor escaped and is nowhere to be found. Everyone’s shocked, but not the official behind the injustice who happened to be the assailant’s relative. Then the realization came afterwards – justice is in the brink of its extinction.

Power: She developed a very slimy sweat like those of eels that is secreted in significant amounts that makes her slippery and hard to grab.

Acacius Blink

He was a tricycle driver, until he found future in gambling. First it was her wife, who showed interest, but after seeing so much progress in that deal, he entered in the business as well. From an usher to being a coordinator, he earned a lot of money.

They are so many, but they co-exist peacefully, until such a time that greed inside him grew into something big. It made him a monster. Every small gambler that he sees as not one of his will be the police’s reward for being loyal to him. Yes, police’s reward. These police officials extort money in exchange for giving them protections so as to operate still in the illegal business.

He has many connections, and that made him the most powerful man in his place.

Power: He developed the ability for metamorphosis. Like a butterfly, which was once a caterpillar, he was before insignificant but not until he became a beast.

Gordon Stronghold
He’s been a gambler more than half of his life. His children are famous and are in power for they hold positions. He is the financier of Acacius Blink, and at the same time the mentor of the man. Acacius is not the only one who has developed greed within him, but Gordon as well.

Gordon is a wealthy man. He has cars, house and many other else. But he must not be content with what he has, so he wished for more (and as you hear more, it really means more). Every gamblers that he sees as not one of his will be driven to jail, for they are just waste of chances for gaining excessively.

For many years or even decades, gambling has always been in man’s life. It is because our police officers are not doing their job. There are only two types of policeman known to many, the coward who might be in conscience clear but in courage a beggar, and the extortionist who lives as a bogus – they’re cops but not acting like one. If there’ll be someone who doesn’t belong to any of these types, surely will not create a significant percentage unless miracles work on him.

Power: He developed strength and structure like that of a lion. Protecting what’s important to him, and killing what’s a threat to his gaining are his goals in life.
